Construction work is under way at Tintswalo Atlantic in Cape Town after a fire destroyed the kitchen and public areas of the hotel in February. Only one guest suite was damaged in the fire and it has already been refurbished.
Four large Milkwood trees have already been planted to shade the new deck, it’s most iconic feature. The wooden deck is currently under construction with builders and carpenters also building new full-length glass doors positioned to bring the ocean breeze right into the dining room and lounge areas. The roof and outside walls are almost complete with the kitchen areas now in place.
Lisa Goosen, CEO of Tintswalo Lodges says: “Witnessing a fire at our beloved lodge for the second time in four years came as a terrible shock, but we have been deeply touched by the words of love and support from the travel trade and our loyal guests. Every tragedy brings the opportunity for renewal, and we are steadfast in our mission to rebuild Tintswalo Atlantic into something even more beautiful than before.”
Tintswalo Atlantic is due to reopen in October.
